The Red Plastic Buddha: “Daisy Love”

The Red Plastic Buddha cite Syd Barrett and the 13th Floor Elevators as major influences, and sure, you hear all that on their recent LP All Out Revolution. But on my favorite tune from the LP, “Daisy Love,” I think they’re on to something a bit different. With its jangly guitars, tom and tambourine-heavy drumbeat, and bright sunshiny harmonies, it’s much more in tune with Help!-era Beatles (the album nobody talks about but is really the transition album.) For me, the song that I kept thinking of while listening to “Daisy Love” was “Tell Me What You See,” one of my favorite underrated Beatles songs.
